Dear Users,
Please stay alert and avoid clicking on suspicious links from unofficial sources. Always use Echobit’s official website and official channels to download Echobit products and access Echobit services.
What Is a Phishing Attack?
Phishing is a type of scam in which cybercriminals impersonate trusted parties to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, verification codes, funds-related details, and identity information. Phishing messages may pretend to be sent by official staff, operations teams, customer support, or network administrators to trick you into believing they are legitimate.
Case Study: Fake Customer Support
A user receives an email claiming to be from Echobit Customer Support, asking them to click a link to verify their account. After clicking the link, the user is redirected to a phishing website that looks similar to the official Echobit site. The user enters their login information, resulting in their account credentials being stolen.
Reminder: Echobit support will never ask you to provide your password, SMS codes, or Google Authenticator(2FA) codes.
How Phishing Is Spread
Phishing attacks commonly spread through the following methods:
(1) Viruses and Malware
Scammers create a fake website that looks like Echobit. They may use viruses or spam software to distribute the fake website address to users’ devices or promote it via search engines. They then trick users into logging in, stealing accounts, passwords, trading information, or funds.
(2) SMS (Text Messages)
Scammers may impersonate Echobit personnel and send fraudulent messages claiming you have won a prize or that your account is at risk. They urge you to quickly log in through a link for “verification.” The link typically leads to a phishing site.
(3) Fake Websites and Social Media Promotions
Scammers set up fake websites and publish fake campaign or event information on social media, luring users to log in and disclose account credentials.
(4) Impersonating Official Emails
Scammers send mass emails pretending to be official, using reasons such as prize notifications or system upgrades. They include links to websites designed to look like Echobit in order to steal account information.
(5) Phishing Links in Online Communities
Scammers post phishing links in communities, forums, or group chats, enticing users to click and sign in on fake sites to steal personal information.
Measures to Prevent Phishing Attacks
To better protect your account and assets, we recommend the following:
- Use a secure browser (such as Google Chrome) and keep it updated to the latest version to reduce security vulnerabilities.
- Avoid installing unknown or unnecessary browser extensions, as they may have high permissions and could lead to account compromise.
- Do not click links from unknown sources. Never enter your Echobit account information on unfamiliar websites to avoid phishing and malware risks.
- Install reputable antivirus software and regularly scan your computer and phone. Keep your operating system and apps updated with the latest security patches.
- Never share verification codes sent by Echobit (SMS codes, email codes, or Google Authenticator codes) with anyone.
- When logging in or trading, ensure you are visiting Echobit’s official domain. If you are unsure about any domain or link, contact Echobit Customer Support through official channels for verification.
